By krates | October 31, 2007
A few day backs i went to my friends house i found out that he was a
GTA SAN ANDREAS — CD
I was amazed how come a game of over 5 gb was compressed to 678mb
I reinstalled the game and found out the software name was UHARC
I open the internet and starting surfing for downloading that piece of software i found a
little more information about that software from wikipaedia.
UHarc is a solid, high-compression 386+ DOS and Windows file archiver with multimedia support. It is written by Uwe Herklotz and is available in binary form
The software is ready to be downloaded here http://www.filecompress.tk/
This software is must for all those whu want’s to compress large softwares and it is also great for backup
Thanks

Yes but it’s only limited to 2gb max file sizes. So you cannot archive in one go the who disc. You would need to archive all files, and then split any that are over 2gb. Not good at all really for todays dvd’s archive compressing.
If you look at many such games you will see many different archivers been used. It all depends on what is been srchived, and using best for that media.
Though it would be nice to see soon a dvd lossless archiver, for backing up dvd’s.
